Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Software sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.54%, while the MDAX index added 0.27%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 2.32% or 0.335 points to trade at 14.745 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 2.29% or 0.275 points to end at 12.270 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) was up 2.28% or 0.160 points to 7.179 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 1.08% or 0.470 points to trade at 42.970 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 0.93% or 0.110 points to end at 11.700 and Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (DE:BMWG) shed 0.80% or 0.570 points to 70.990.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which rose 23.21% to 104.000, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was up 3.56% to settle at 27.76 and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which gained 3.43% to close at 9.38.
The worst performers were Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was down 2.44% to 109.950 in late trade, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which lost 1.97% to settle at 32.61 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which was down 1.92% to 26.780 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 2.73% to 41.925, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 2.58% to settle at 220.850 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which gained 1.71% to close at 45.185.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 2.70% to 14.800 in late trade, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which lost 2.19% to settle at 21.250 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.90% to 46.820 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 462 to 421 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.26% to 22.52.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.27% or 3.40 to $1273.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.95% or 0.46 to hit $48.77 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.34 to trade at $49.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1275, while EUR/GBP fell 1.35% to 0.7717.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 94.70.
