Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Construction and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.51%, while the MDAX index added 0.25%, and the TecDAX index added 1.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG), which rose 3.45% or 2.430 points to trade at 72.890 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) added 3.41% or 0.405 points to end at 12.265 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (XETRA:BEIG) was up 3.19% or 2.450 points to 79.260 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Allianz SE VNA O.N. (XETRA:ALVG), which lost 4.25% or 6.550 points to trade at 147.650 in late trade. Siemens AG NA (XETRA:SIEGn) declined 1.54% or 1.490 points to end at 95.360 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) shed 0.36% or 0.060 points to 16.415.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which rose 5.41% to 47.805, Fraport AG (XETRA:FRAG) which was up 3.80% to settle at 58.400 and Tag Immobilien AG (XETRA:TEGG) which gained 2.40% to close at 11.530.
The worst performers were Metro AG ST O.N. (XETRA:MEOG) which was down 5.09% to 30.665 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which lost 4.67% to settle at 42.525 and Evonik Industries AG (XETRA:EVKn) which was down 4.13% to 32.000 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which rose 9.61% to 45.335, Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which was up 5.53% to settle at 37.675 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which gained 4.93% to close at 156.350.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 4.59% to 13.500 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which lost 3.89% to settle at 25.950 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was down 3.74% to 110.550 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 382 to 358 and 34 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.43% to 23.35.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.66% or 7.80 to $1182.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.12% or 1.29 to hit $59.64 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.09% or 1.42 to trade at $66.36 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.1283, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.7415.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 94.71.
