Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Food & Beverages and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.32%, while the MDAX index gained 0.40%, and the TecDAX index added 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn), which rose 1.93% or 1.500 points to trade at 79.190 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) added 1.89% or 0.280 points to end at 15.110 and Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN) was up 1.11% or 1.300 points to 118.350 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 1.60% or 0.210 points to trade at 12.895 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 1.22% or 0.121 points to end at 9.763 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) shed 0.82% or 1.350 points to 163.000.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which rose 2.48% to 8.147, Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was up 1.98% to settle at 47.432 and Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which gained 1.77% to close at 28.98.
The worst performers were Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which was down 1.44% to 34.890 in late trade, Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which lost 1.18% to settle at 36.720 and Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was down 1.14% to 20.345 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which rose 3.89% to 11.750, BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was up 3.60% to settle at 262.000 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which gained 2.45% to close at 33.720.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was down 0.97% to 29.180 in late trade, Software AG O.N. (XETRA:SOWG) which lost 0.56% to settle at 24.015 and Bechtle AG O.N. (XETRA:BC8G) which was down 0.28% to 75.500 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 405 to 251 and 50 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.27% to 28.96.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.46% or 5.30 to $1134.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.59% or 1.63 to hit $43.78 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.69% or 1.33 to trade at $48.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.1244, while EUR/GBP fell 0.69% to 0.7342.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 95.80.
