Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Software and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.17%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.56%, and the TecDAX index added 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which rose 1.76% or 0.335 points to trade at 19.420 at the close. SAP SE (DE:SAPG) added 1.67% or 1.500 points to end at 91.330 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was up 1.09% or 1.20 points to 111.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 2.81% or 0.305 points to trade at 10.530 in late trade. Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) declined 1.14% or 1.35 points to end at 116.60 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) shed 0.76% or 0.720 points to 93.960.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which rose 2.79% to 88.830, Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which was up 2.74% to settle at 29.650 and Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which gained 2.30% to close at 12.245.
The worst performers were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 3.52% to 37.83 in late trade, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which lost 1.50% to settle at 18.035 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was down 1.21% to 68.54 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 3.42% to 32.045, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 2.44% to settle at 87.260 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 2.14% to close at 38.21.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 7.13% to 12.300 in late trade, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which lost 0.62% to settle at 135.40 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 0.47% to 63.700 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 503 to 253 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.12% to 13.50.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.12% or 1.54 to $1240.36 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.36% or 0.63 to hit $47.03 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.39% or 0.68 to trade at $49.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1518, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8838.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 94.58.
