Investing.com – France equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.79%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS), which rose 2.06% or 42.00 points to trade at 2,077.00 at the close. Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) added 1.61% or 3.45 points to end at 218.05 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) was up 1.58% or 10.00 points to 644.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF), which lost 0.58% or 0.60 points to trade at 102.50 in late trade. Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) declined 0.36% or 0.90 points to end at 251.15 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) shed 0.25% or 0.05 points to 19.72.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 5.07% to 3.48, Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) which was up 2.71% to settle at 38.49 and Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) which gained 2.57% to close at 10.36.
The worst performers were Inter Parfums Inc. (EPA:IPAR) which was down 2.01% to 43.85 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which lost 1.59% to settle at 169.80 and SES (EPA:SESFd) which was down 1.28% to 4.64 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 276 to 189 and 105 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.98% or 24.60 to $2,483.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.94% or 0.74 to hit $77.61 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.34 to trade at $80.35 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.37% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 102.31.
