Investing.com – France equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Financials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.51%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which rose 2.73% or 0.68 points to trade at 25.57 at the close. Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) added 2.70% or 2.12 points to end at 80.78 and Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) was up 2.39% or 0.85 points to 36.42 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thales (EPA:TCFP), which lost 3.83% or 5.65 points to trade at 142.00 in late trade. EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) declined 1.25% or 2.60 points to end at 205.50 and Danone SA (EPA:DANO) shed 0.92% or 0.60 points to 64.70.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Nexans SA (EPA:NEXS) which rose 5.92% to 128.90, Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) which was up 5.73% to settle at 7.93 and Emeis SA (EPA:EMEIS) which gained 4.69% to close at 7.30.
The worst performers were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 3.97% to 2.66 in late trade, Thales (EPA:TCFP) which lost 3.83% to settle at 142.00 and Dassault Aviation SA (EPA:AM) which was down 2.73% to 185.60 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 268 to 201 and 100 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.74% or 19.25 to $2,589.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.65% or 1.14 to hit $70.16 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.37% or 1.00 to trade at $73.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.30% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 100.60.
