France shares mixed at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.77%

Investing.com – France equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Consumer Services, Consumer Goods and Construction & Materials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.77%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.80%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP), which rose 1.46% or 1.45 points to trade at 101.05 at the close. Accor SA (EPA:ACCP) added 1.45% or 0.55 points to end at 38.44 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) was up 1.30% or 0.64 points to 50.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which lost 4.62% or 1.85 points to trade at 38.21 in late trade. Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) declined 3.10% or 1.11 points to end at 34.75 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) shed 1.91% or 1.69 points to 86.82.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which rose 51.60% to 1.71, Derichebourg (EPA:DBG) which was up 1.98% to settle at 4.54 and ID Logistics SAS (EPA:IDLA) which gained 1.92% to close at 371.50.

The worst performers were Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which was down 13.76% to 152.95 in late trade, Fnac Darty SA (EPA:FNAC) which lost 5.29% to settle at 31.35 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) which was down 4.62% to 38.21 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 328 to 192 and 83 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.08% or 1.90 to $2,345.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.09% or 0.07 to hit $80.64 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.07 to trade at $85.26 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 104.82.
