Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.97%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Klepierre (PA:LOIM), which rose 0.95% or 0.40 points to trade at 42.14 at the close. Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) added 0.92% or 0.57 points to end at 62.37 and Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) was up 0.65% or 0.57 points to 87.63 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Technip (PA:TECF), which lost 3.57% or 1.86 points to trade at 50.19 in late trade. Accor SA (PA:ACCP) declined 2.83% or 1.13 points to end at 38.77 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) shed 2.39% or 0.97 points to 39.81.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Neopost (PA:NPOS) which rose 3.18% to 21.77, Ingenico Group (PA:INGC) which was up 2.08% to settle at 102.85 and Edenred (PA:EDEN) which gained 1.26% to close at 17.25.
The worst performers were CGG (PA:GEPH) which was down 10.59% to 0.7600 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 5.40% to settle at 3.557 and Technip (PA:TECF) which was down 3.57% to 50.19 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 434 to 230 and 103 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 10.10% to 25.23 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.91% or 11.45 to $1273.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.27% or 0.65 to hit $50.58 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.01% or 0.53 to trade at $51.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.1318, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7823.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 94.02.
