Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Electronic Equipment, Foods & Drugs and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.74%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 2.35% or 0.34 points to trade at 15.03 at the close. Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) added 2.00% or 0.43 points to end at 21.95 and Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) was up 0.86% or 0.15 points to 17.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which lost 2.97% or 2.90 points to trade at 94.85 in late trade. Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) declined 2.26% or 1.17 points to end at 50.64 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) shed 1.92% or 1.22 points to 62.26.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solocal Group (PA:LOCAL) which rose 4.83% to 0.304, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 2.57% to settle at 10.59 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) which gained 2.35% to close at 15.03.
The worst performers were Adocia (PA:ADOC) which was down 4.11% to 67.380 in late trade, DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which lost 3.31% to settle at 58.430 and Edenred (PA:EDEN) which was down 3.02% to 16.05 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 441 to 270 and 57 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 4.93% to 24.37.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.94% or 11.00 to $1176.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.81% or 0.38 to hit $46.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.19 to trade at $49.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.56% to 1.1444, while EUR/GBP fell 0.73% to 0.7408.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.60% at 94.23.
