Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.52%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Sodexo (PA:EXHO), which rose 2.97% or 2.90 points to trade at 100.60 at the close. Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) added 1.98% or 1.00 points to end at 51.43 and L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) was up 1.17% or 1.85 points to 159.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vivendi SA (PA:VIV), which lost 3.93% or 0.75 points to trade at 18.36 in late trade. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 2.22% or 0.26 points to end at 11.26 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) shed 1.90% or 0.127 points to 6.572.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which rose 4.07% to 33.000, GTT (PA:GTT) which was up 3.50% to settle at 32.26 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) which gained 3.01% to close at 48.69.
The worst performers were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 7.02% to 13.1200 in late trade, Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) which lost 3.93% to settle at 18.36 and Eutelsat Communications (PA:ETL) which was down 2.75% to 16.28 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 329 to 327 and 115 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.38% to 19.29.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.68% or 8.30 to $1208.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.20% or 0.09 to hit $45.51 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.22% or 0.10 to trade at $46.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.0595, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8592.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 101.33.
