Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.40%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PA:TECF), which rose 0.72% or 0.38 points to trade at 53.30 at the close. Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) added 0.53% or 0.60 points to end at 113.55 and Airbus Group (PA:AIR) was up 0.51% or 0.26 points to 51.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 2.94% or 0.168 points to trade at 5.554 in late trade. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 1.63% or 0.22 points to end at 13.27 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) shed 1.16% or 0.55 points to 46.77.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which rose 2.86% to 23.95, Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which was up 1.84% to settle at 32.310 and Genfit (PA:GNFT) which gained 1.52% to close at 25.095.
The worst performers were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 3.50% to 21.5000 in late trade, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which lost 2.94% to settle at 5.554 and Vicat (PA:VCTP) which was down 1.99% to 56.54 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 334 to 286 and 123 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.72% to 19.32.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.05% or 0.65 to $1326.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.78% or 0.85 to hit $46.79 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.69% or 0.85 to trade at $49.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.1176, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8546.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 95.66.
