Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Electronic Equipment, Oil & Gas Producers and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.28%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH), which rose 1.18% or 1.95 points to trade at 167.50 at the close. Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) added 0.95% or 0.81 points to end at 86.07 and BNP Paribas Act. A (PARIS:BNPP) was up 0.86% or 0.49 points to 57.67 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Schneider Electric (PARIS:SCHN), which lost 3.16% or 2.37 points to trade at 72.62 in late trade. Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) declined 2.14% or 0.34 points to end at 15.54 and Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) shed 1.15% or 0.55 points to 47.05.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which rose 4.86% to 0.647, Plastic Omnium (PARIS:PLOF) which was up 4.34% to settle at 26.09 and Sopra Steria Group SA (PARIS:SOPR) which gained 4.27% to close at 74.76.
The worst performers were Schneider Electric (PARIS:SCHN) which was down 3.16% to 72.62 in late trade, Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which lost 2.96% to settle at 33.275 and Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) which was down 2.14% to 15.54 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 501 to 418 and 39 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 6.52% to 17.77.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.59% or 7.10 to $1203.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 5.80% or 3.13 to hit $50.85 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 4.51% or 2.67 to trade at $56.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.0810, while EUR/GBP fell 0.73% to 0.7250.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 98.03.
