Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrials, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.61% to hit a new 6-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 2.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Danone SA (EPA:DANO), which rose 2.88% or 1.72 points to trade at 61.54 at the close. Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) added 2.79% or 0.41 points to end at 14.92 and AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) was up 1.41% or 0.45 points to 32.26 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which lost 5.93% or 1.30 points to trade at 20.54 in late trade. STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) declined 5.63% or 1.67 points to end at 27.92 and Credit Agricole SA (EPA:CAGR) shed 5.62% or 0.79 points to 13.19.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Danone SA (EPA:DANO) which rose 2.88% to 61.54, Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) which was up 2.79% to settle at 14.92 and AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) which gained 1.41% to close at 32.26.
The worst performers were Forvia (EPA:FRVIA) which was down 9.16% to 9.44 in late trade, Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) which lost 9.11% to settle at 42.00 and Technip Energies BV (EPA:TE) which was down 7.28% to 20.64 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 379 to 114 and 89 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 2.45 to $2,478.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.17% or 2.42 to hit $73.89 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.79% or 2.22 to trade at $77.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.08% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.04% at 103.12.
