Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Software, Oil & Gas Producers and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.30% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Cap Gemini (PARIS:CAPP), which rose 7.87% or 6.17 points to trade at 84.54 at the close. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) added 3.39% or 0.32 points to end at 9.88 and Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) was up 2.43% or 1.17 points to 49.17 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pernod Ricard (PARIS:PERP), which lost 0.30% or 0.35 points to trade at 116.90 in late trade. Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA) declined 0.16% or 0.006 points to end at 3.695 and Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) shed 0.04% or 0.04 points to 97.04.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Innate Pharma (PARIS:IPH) which rose 16.85% to 15.600, Cap Gemini (PARIS:CAPP) which was up 7.87% to settle at 84.54 and SEB SA (PARIS:SEBF) which gained 5.06% to close at 87.03.
The worst performers were Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which was down 5.58% to 37.770 in late trade, Korian (PARIS:KORI) which lost 1.43% to settle at 31.000 and Soitec (PARIS:SOIT) which was down 1.14% to 0.870 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 561 to 347 and 48 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.58% to 19.91.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 2.43% or 28.60 to $1203.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $57.22 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.10 to trade at $65.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.0919, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.7158.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.42% at 96.66.
