Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Oil & Gas Producers and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.58%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP), which rose 6.43% or 5.05 points to trade at 83.63 at the close. Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) added 3.88% or 5.20 points to end at 139.35 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) was up 2.66% or 1.16 points to 44.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which lost 2.74% or 1.12 points to trade at 39.90 in late trade. Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) declined 1.20% or 0.21 points to end at 17.32 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) shed 1.16% or 0.117 points to 9.928.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which rose 9.59% to 5.704, Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which was up 7.93% to settle at 12.46 and Teleperformance (PA:ROCH) which gained 7.66% to close at 79.65.
The worst performers were BIC (PA:BICP) which was down 6.53% to 125.20 in late trade, Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which lost 5.83% to settle at 10.830 and SCOR SE (PA:SCOR) which was down 5.21% to 31.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 405 to 260 and 97 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.35% to 20.14.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.61% or 7.60 to $1251.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.25% or 0.55 to hit $44.59 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.40% or 0.64 to trade at $46.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1321, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.7782.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 94.39.
