Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.56% to hit a new 3-month high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which rose 5.25% or 2.04 points to trade at 40.97 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 2.62% or 0.14 points to end at 5.33 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 2.60% or 1.19 points to 46.81 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP), which lost 2.05% or 1.67 points to trade at 79.88 in late trade. Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) declined 1.84% or 0.102 points to end at 5.455 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) shed 1.06% or 0.95 points to 89.05.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Accor SA (PA:ACCP) which rose 5.25% to 40.97, Zodiac Aerospace (PA:ZODC) which was up 3.97% to settle at 18.20 and Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which gained 3.32% to close at 11.99.
The worst performers were Ingenico Group (PA:INGC) which was down 2.26% to 98.67 in late trade, Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) which lost 2.05% to settle at 79.88 and Eurofins Scientific (PA:EUFI) which was down 2.01% to 320.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 347 to 299 and 120 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.79% to 19.36 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.07% or 0.90 to $1255.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.98% or 0.84 to hit $43.31 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.02% or 0.89 to trade at $44.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.29% to 1.1326, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.7877.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 94.28.
