Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Personal Goods and Support Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.06% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alcatel Lucent SA (PARIS:ALUA), which rose 3.19% or 0.104 points to trade at 3.360 at the close. LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH) added 2.87% or 4.65 points to end at 166.95 and Orange SA (PARIS:ORAN) was up 1.04% or 0.16 points to 15.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Electricite de France SA (PARIS:EDF), which lost 1.40% or 0.30 points to trade at 21.41 in late trade. GDF Suez SA (PARIS:GSZ) declined 0.98% or 0.17 points to end at 17.66 and ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) shed 0.90% or 0.07 points to 8.24.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which rose 3.80% to 4.64, Biomerieux (PARIS:BIOX) which was up 3.42% to settle at 104.35 and Alcatel Lucent SA (PARIS:ALUA) which gained 3.19% to close at 3.360.
The worst performers were Suez Environnement (PARIS:SEVI) which was down 2.34% to 17.770 in late trade, Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which lost 1.82% to settle at 16.44 and Groupe Eurotunnel (PARIS:GETP) which was down 1.60% to 13.235 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 501 to 409 and 49 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.55% to 17.58 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.11% or 12.70 to $1131.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.41% or 0.21 to hit $50.70 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.20% or 0.12 to trade at $57.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.0850, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.6944.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 97.98.
