Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.18%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR), which rose 3.46% or 5.36 points to trade at 160.14 at the close. TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) added 2.19% or 1.15 points to end at 53.73 and Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) was up 1.40% or 0.22 points to 15.53 in late trade.
Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which lost 2.00% or 0.49 points to trade at 23.79 in late trade. Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) declined 1.86% or 0.59 points to end at 31.16 and Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) shed 1.19% or 0.40 points to 33.10.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) which rose 10.14% to 56.03, Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was up 6.75% to settle at 2.31 and Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (EPA:GTT) which gained 4.59% to close at 134.50.
The worst performers were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was unchanged 3.85% to 0.00 in late trade, Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which lost 2.73% to settle at 2.21 and Arkema SA (EPA:AKE) which was down 2.65% to 71.60 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 332 to 173 and 80 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.19% or 31.49 to $2,672.49 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.57% or 1.84 to hit $73.56 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.28% or 1.70 to trade at $76.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.86% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.76% at 109.11.
