Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the CAC Real Estate, CAC Utilities and CAC Foods & Drugs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.44%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Unibail-Rodamco (AMS:UNBP), which rose 2.91% or 7.10 points to trade at 251.20 at the close. Legrand SA (PARIS:LEGD) added 2.15% or 0.99 points to end at 46.95 and Michelin (PARIS:MICP) was up 2.07% or 1.75 points to 86.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Technip (PARIS:TECF), which lost 1.92% or 1.01 points to trade at 51.54 in late trade. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) declined 1.46% or 0.12 points to end at 8.34 and Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) shed 1.44% or 0.66 points to 44.91.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were STMicroelectronics (PARIS:STM) which rose 3.43% to 7.392, Unibail-Rodamco (AMS:UNBP) which was up 2.91% to settle at 251.20 and Altran Technologies (PARIS:ALTT) which gained 2.75% to close at 7.635.
The worst performers were CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which was down 6.36% to 5.08 in late trade, Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which lost 3.78% to settle at 18.99 and Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which was down 2.37% to 0.742 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 489 to 411 and 54 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.42% to 21.28.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 2.48% or 31.90 to $1255.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 1.33% or 0.59 to hit $43.86 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.09 to trade at $48.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1281, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.7501.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.39% at 95.25.
