Investing.com – Finland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Helsinki, the OMX Helsinki 25 gained 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the OMX Helsinki 25 were Outokumpu Oyj (HE:OUT1V), which rose 3.31% or 0.2080 points to trade at 6.4980 at the close. Fortum Oyj (HE:FORTUM) added 3.24% or 0.57 points to end at 18.32 and Metsa Board Oyj B (HE:METSB) was up 1.11% or 0.090 points to 8.220 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Orion Oyj B (HE:ORNBV), which lost 8.70% or 2.41 points to trade at 25.28 in late trade. Cargotec Oyj (HE:CGCBV) declined 2.22% or 1.04 points to end at 45.82 and Valmt (HE:VALMT) shed 2.12% or 0.38 points to 17.56.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 74 to 65 and 16 ended unchanged on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for May delivery was up 2.48% or 1.67 to $69.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.27% or 1.44 to hit $64.98 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.75% or 9.80 to trade at $1321.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.2265, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.8711.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 89.77.
