easyJet PLC (LSE:LON:EZJ) has cancelled more than 25 flights between the UK and Lisbon due to ground handler strikes at Portuguese airports over the bank holiday weekend.
Holiday traffic is expected to peak today with Belfast International, Birmingham and London Gatwick airports all expecting a huge throughput of travellers returning to the UK.
Four easyJet flights from London Gatwick were affected today, two on Saturday, and four on Sunday, with seven round-trips to the Portuguese capital cancelled at Luton airport over the weekend, representing 14 flights.
One round trip from Manchester has also been cancelled by the airline, but reports indicate there appears to be little effect on the main holiday airport of Faro, serving the Algarve.
Currently, British Airways, the carrier owned by London-listed International Consolidated Airlines Group (LON:ICAG) SA (LSE:IAG), Ryanair Holdings PLC (LSE:LON:RYA), TAP Portugal, and Wizz Air Holdings PLC (AIM:LON:WIZZ) do not appear to be affected by the disruption.
Luton and Stansted airports meanwhile are tipped to be the busiest airports on Monday's bank holiday - August 29.
