Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Public Sector Undertakings and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Consumer Durables, Technology and IT sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.01%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 3.12% or 10.55 points to trade at 349.00 at the close. Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) added 1.98% or 64.75 points to end at 3,338.80 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was up 1.55% or 3.55 points to 232.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN), which lost 1.86% or 59.95 points to trade at 3,167.00 in late trade. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) declined 1.41% or 22.10 points to end at 1,547.20 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) shed 1.18% or 30.80 points to 2,584.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 1.18% to 111.75, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 1.13% to settle at 20,476.30 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 1.02% to close at 4,453.00.
The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.94% to 3,164.75 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 1.39% to settle at 1,547.10 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 1.24% to 2,583.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1028 to 886 and 65 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1738 rose and 1726 declined, while 189 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.19% to 13.32 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.43% or 7.75 to $1,802.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.61% or 0.43 to hit $70.59 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.67% or 0.51 to trade at $75.59 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.13% to 82.52, while EUR/INR rose 0.43% to 87.15.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 104.41.
