Investing.com – China equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Gas, Water & Multiutilities, Retailers and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite fell 5.84% to hit a new 3-month low, while the SZSE Component index lost 5.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Sz Expressway (SS:600548), which rose 10.06% or 0.900 points to trade at 9.850 at the close. China Molybden (SS:603993) added 10.05% or 1.010 points to end at 11.060 and Taiji Indust (SS:600667) was up 9.97% or 0.700 points to 7.720 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tengda Constr (SS:600512), which lost 10.07% or 0.570 points to trade at 5.090 in late trade. Gd Power (SS:600795) declined 10.07% or 0.580 points to end at 5.180 and Metallurgical (SS:601618) shed 10.07% or 0.610 points to 5.450.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Yintai Resources Co Ltd (SZ:000975) which rose 10.03% to 15.36, Zhejiang Huace Film TV Co (SZ:300133) which was up 9.20% to settle at 27.89 and Wangsu Science Tech (SZ:300017) which gained 8.33% to close at 52.00.
The worst performers were Luxi Chemical Group Co Ltd (SZ:000830) which was down 10.05% to 7.25 in late trade, Henan Shenhuo Coal & Power Co Ltd (SZ:000933) which lost 10.05% to settle at 6.89 and Guangdong Orient Zirconic Ind Sci & Tech Co Ltd (SZ:002167) which was down 10.04% to 8.87 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 923 to 35 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 2.07% to 30.31.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.39% or 4.50 to $1168.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.64% or 0.36 to hit $56.56 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.68% or 0.42 to trade at $61.65 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.01% to 6.2054, while EUR/CNY rose 0.20% to 6.8907.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 96.13.
