Investing.com – China equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Software & Computer Services, Media and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite lost 1.26%, while the SZSE Component index declined 2.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Fujian Express (SS:600033), which rose 10.05% or 0.600 points to trade at 6.570 at the close. Hainan Airline B (SS:900945) added 10.02% or 0.065 points to end at 0.714 and Csr Corp (SS:601766) was up 10.02% or 2.700 points to 29.650 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wenfeng Chain (SS:601010), which lost 10.01% or 1.840 points to trade at 16.540 in late trade. Dongfeng Tech (SS:600081) declined 10.00% or 2.210 points to end at 19.880 and Hareon Solar T (SS:600401) shed 10.00% or 1.440 points to 12.960.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Ping An Bank Co Ltd (SZ:000001) which rose 2.15% to 16.65, Suzhou Gold Mantis Construction Decoration Co Ltd (SZ:002081) which was up 1.42% to settle at 32.84 and ZTE Corp (SZ:000063) which gained 0.17% to close at 23.81.
The worst performers were BOE Technology Group Co Ltd (SZ:000725) which was down 9.80% to 4.42 in late trade, Leshi Internet Info Tech (SZ:300104) which lost 7.84% to settle at 83.80 and Shan Dong Dong-E E-Jiao Co Ltd (SZ:000423) which was down 6.41% to 48.90 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 776 to 180 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 9.35% to 34.53.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.08% or 0.90 to $1191.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.34% or 0.71 to hit $54.01 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.59% or 0.95 to trade at $60.76 a barrel.
USD/CNY was down 0.14% to 6.2037, while EUR/CNY fell 0.55% to 6.5818.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 99.27.
