China shares lower at close of trade; Shanghai Composite down 0.76%

Investing.com – China equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mobile and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite fell 0.76%, while the SZSE Component index fell 0.36%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Jonjee Tech (SS:600872), which rose 10.03% or 1.980 points to trade at 21.730 at the close. Tyan Home (SS:600807) added 10.03% or 1.970 points to end at 21.620 and Minfeng Paper (SS:600235) was up 10.02% or 1.120 points to 12.300 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Sh Duolun (SS:600696), which lost 7.83% or 0.990 points to trade at 11.650 in late trade. Jinling (SS:600621) declined 7.33% or 1.360 points to end at 17.200 and Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co Ltd (SS:600688) shed 6.22% or 0.650 points to 9.800.

The top performers on the SZSE Component were Financial Street Holdings Co Ltd (SZ:000402) which rose 2.62% to 14.11, AVIC Aircraft Co Ltd (SZ:000768) which was up 2.61% to settle at 34.60 and Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town Co Ltd (SZ:000069) which gained 2.57% to close at 10.37.

The worst performers were Changjiang Securities Co Ltd (SZ:000783) which was down 3.89% to 17.54 in late trade, Pangang Group Vanadium Titanium & Resources Co Ltd (SZ:000629) which lost 3.25% to settle at 5.35 and Shanxi Xishan Coal and Electricity Power Co Ltd (SZ:000983) which was down 3.07% to 9.46 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 552 to 410 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 0.83% to 32.31.

In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.71% or 8.60 to $1201.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.41% or 0.24 to hit $58.82 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.10 to trade at $65.75 a barrel.

USD/CNY was up 0.01% to 6.2010, while EUR/CNY rose 0.32% to 6.9168.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 95.12.
