(Reuters) - About 8.1 gigawatt hours (GWh) will be unavailable between July 18 and 19 due to an unplanned transmission system outage on the UK-Belgium gas interconnector due to high temperatures, operator Fluxys said in a market update on Monday.
High temperatures limiting achievable flow rates were further compounded by a loss of supply pressure, the market update showed.
Much of Europe is baking in a heatwave that scientists say is consistent with climate change and has pushed temperatures into the mid-40s Celsius (over 110 Fahrenheit) in some regions.
