Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.85% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PA:TECF), which rose 6.31% or 2.92 points to trade at 49.30 at the close. Renault SA (PA:RENA) added 1.44% or 1.12 points to end at 79.05 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) was up 1.31% or 0.45 points to 34.47 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 5.80% or 0.24 points to trade at 3.93 in late trade. Total SA (PA:TOTF) declined 2.39% or 1.03 points to end at 42.13 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) shed 2.22% or 0.55 points to 23.98.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Technip (PA:TECF) which rose 6.31% to 49.30, Elis Services SA (PA:ELIS) which was up 1.69% to settle at 16.56 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) which gained 1.44% to close at 79.05.
The worst performers were Sartorius Stedim Biotech (PA:STDM) which was down 82.77% to 54.75 in late trade, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which lost 5.80% to settle at 3.93 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 5.16% to 3.18 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 439 to 208 and 110 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 4.53% to 22.65.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.76% or 22.45 to $1251.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.02% or 0.49 to hit $47.70 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.21% or 0.59 to trade at $48.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.1204, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.7670.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 95.30.
