Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.09% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 5.85% or 2.32 points to trade at 41.98 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) added 3.63% or 0.52 points to end at 14.85 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was up 3.51% or 1.03 points to 30.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which lost 7.40% or 0.29 points to trade at 3.63 in late trade. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) declined 7.14% or 0.08 points to end at 1.04 and Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) shed 5.38% or 0.64 points to 11.26.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 179 to 120 and 5 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.19% to 32.37.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.97% or 10.70 to $1092.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.35% or 1.71 to hit $49.15 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.59% or 0.75 to trade at $125.53 .
USD/BRL was up 1.81% to 3.2290, while EUR/BRL rose 1.66% to 3.5263.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 97.62.
