Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.04% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4), which rose 8.36% or 0.47 points to trade at 6.09 at the close. EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) added 5.57% or 0.36 points to end at 6.82 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was up 5.43% or 0.05 points to 0.97 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which lost 10.12% or 1.22 points to trade at 10.83 in late trade. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) declined 6.04% or 0.67 points to end at 10.42 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) shed 6.04% or 0.22 points to 3.42.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 191 to 108 and 6 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 6.78% to 40.66 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.54% or 5.90 to $1091.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $47.02 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.78% or 2.17 to trade at $119.92 .
USD/BRL was up 0.21% to 3.3612, while EUR/BRL rose 1.28% to 3.7291.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.73% at 96.63.
