Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.87% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which rose 2.52% or 0.11 points to trade at 4.48 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 2.31% or 0.73 points to end at 32.28 and Ambev SA (SA:ABEV3) was up 1.69% or 0.32 points to 19.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3), which lost 7.06% or 1.15 points to trade at 15.15 in late trade. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) declined 5.50% or 0.61 points to end at 10.49 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) shed 5.07% or 0.44 points to 8.23.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 140 to 136 and 33 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.13% to 40.02 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.74% or 9.00 to $1211.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $49.52 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.45% or 0.55 to trade at $121.28 .
USD/BRL was up 0.74% to 3.6088, while EUR/BRL rose 0.02% to 4.0113.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.63% at 95.74.
