Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which rose 4.51% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.39 at the close. EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) added 3.71% or 0.30 points to end at 8.38 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was up 2.50% or 0.75 points to 30.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which lost 6.37% or 0.42 points to trade at 6.17 in late trade. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) declined 4.23% or 0.50 points to end at 11.31 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) shed 3.74% or 0.15 points to 3.86.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 182 to 115 and 8 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.09% to 31.65.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.45% or 5.30 to $1173.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.34% or 0.80 to hit $58.34 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.32% or 1.77 to trade at $136.10 .
USD/BRL was down 1.40% to 3.1100, while EUR/BRL rose 0.51% to 3.5096.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.20% at 95.22.
