Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Consumption and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 4.06% or 0.180 points to trade at 4.610 at the close. Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) added 3.66% or 0.39 points to end at 11.06 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was up 3.03% or 0.12 points to 4.08 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3), which lost 4.36% or 1.78 points to trade at 39.02 in late trade. Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) declined 2.40% or 0.47 points to end at 19.10 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) shed 2.36% or 0.390 points to 16.160.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 215 to 181 and 35 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.14% to 29.42 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.26% or 3.25 to $1264.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.81% or 0.41 to hit $50.44 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.99% or 1.55 to trade at $157.82 .
USD/BRL was down 0.85% to 3.1243, while EUR/BRL fell 0.90% to 3.3988.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 98.67.
