Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which rose 6.00% or 0.45 points to trade at 7.95 at the close. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) added 4.11% or 0.27 points to end at 6.84 and Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) was up 3.98% or 0.58 points to 15.16 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which lost 14.29% or 3.85 points to trade at 23.10 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 8.60% or 1.36 points to end at 14.45 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) shed 6.15% or 1.10 points to 16.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 211 to 183 and 24 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.09% to 34.78.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.37% or 4.60 to $1258.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.50% or 1.11 to hit $73.03 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 2.75% or 3.08 to trade at $108.97 .
USD/BRL was up 0.41% to 3.9296, while EUR/BRL rose 0.70% to 4.5938.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 94.15.
