Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 2.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 7.12% or 1.05 points to trade at 15.80 at the close. Vale SA Pref (SA:VALE5) added 6.92% or 2.05 points to end at 31.68 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 6.90% or 2.15 points to 33.32 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which lost 3.76% or 0.48 points to trade at 12.27 in late trade. Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) declined 1.19% or 0.18 points to end at 15.00 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) shed 1.08% or 0.20 points to 18.37.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 228 to 125 and 30 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.39% to 30.24.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.36% or 16.40 to $1219.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.60% or 1.24 to hit $48.96 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.06% or 0.09 to trade at $141.18 .
USD/BRL was down 1.99% to 3.1067, while EUR/BRL fell 0.83% to 3.3329.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.19% at 100.41.
