Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3), which rose 7.32% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.440 at the close. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) added 6.67% or 0.08 points to end at 1.28 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) was up 5.98% or 0.51 points to 9.04 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which lost 4.07% or 0.30 points to trade at 7.07 in late trade. Duratex SA (SA:DTEX3) declined 3.89% or 0.34 points to end at 8.41 and Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) shed 3.85% or 1.04 points to 25.96.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 155 to 119 and 6 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.44% to 29.50 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.20% or 2.40 to $1220.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.30% or 0.79 to hit $59.72 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.14% or 1.55 to trade at $137.30 .
USD/BRL was down 1.44% to 2.9957, while EUR/BRL fell 0.92% to 3.4188.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.36% at 93.40.
