Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumption and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 4.12% or 0.75 points to trade at 18.95 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) added 3.69% or 0.50 points to end at 14.05 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was up 3.29% or 0.43 points to 13.51 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which lost 6.47% or 0.09 points to trade at 1.30 in late trade. Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) declined 4.74% or 0.51 points to end at 10.26 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) shed 3.46% or 0.29 points to 8.09.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 167 to 121 and 7 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.98% to 31.34.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.19% or 2.20 to $1175.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 3.49% or 2.03 to hit $60.21 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.75% or 1.02 to trade at $137.12 .
USD/BRL was down 0.45% to 3.1006, while EUR/BRL fell 0.55% to 3.4973.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 95.17.
