Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.42% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Vivara Participacoes SA (BVMF:VIVA3), which rose 7.42% or 1.83 points to trade at 26.48 at the close. Lojas Renner SA (BVMF:LREN3) added 6.48% or 0.94 points to end at 15.44 and B3 SA Brasil Bolsa Balcao (BVMF:B3SA3) was up 5.73% or 0.65 points to 12.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alpargatas SA (BVMF:ALPA4), which lost 4.12% or 0.36 points to trade at 8.37 in late trade. YDUQS Participacoes SA (BVMF:YDUQ3) declined 3.83% or 0.41 points to end at 10.29 and Hapvida Participacoes e Investimentos (BVMF:HAPV3) shed 2.44% or 0.11 points to 4.39.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 470 to 461 and 54 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.69% to 31.91.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.23% or 5.65 to $2,468.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.02% or 0.78 to hit $76.97 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 5.05% or 12.38 to trade at $232.92 .
USD/BRL was down 0.74% to 5.51, while EUR/BRL fell 1.04% to 6.02.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 102.96.
