Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 3.83% or 0.37 points to trade at 10.02 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) added 3.49% or 0.85 points to end at 25.24 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 3.42% or 1.12 points to 33.83 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3), which lost 1.71% or 0.37 points to trade at 21.33 in late trade. TAESA UNT N2 (SA:TAEE11) declined 0.70% or 0.15 points to end at 21.38 and Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) shed 0.37% or 0.10 points to 26.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 254 to 144 and 30 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.37% to 29.86.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.22% or 2.79 to $1278.11 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.21% or 0.63 to hit $52.53 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.90% or 1.12 to trade at $123.28 .
USD/BRL was unchanged 0.00% to 3.2435, while EUR/BRL rose 0.02% to 3.8149.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 93.83.
