Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumption, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3), which rose 7.15% or 1.09 points to trade at 16.34 at the close. Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) added 5.77% or 1.30 points to end at 23.82 and Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) was up 3.59% or 2.070 points to 59.810 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which lost 2.60% or 0.17 points to trade at 6.37 in late trade. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) declined 1.91% or 0.28 points to end at 14.38 and Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) shed 1.87% or 0.34 points to 17.81.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 152 to 151 and 11 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.67% to 38.60 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.25% or 3.05 to $1214.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.29% or 0.14 to hit $48.96 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.33% or 0.40 to trade at $122.00 .
USD/BRL was down 0.46% to 3.5965, while EUR/BRL rose 0.03% to 4.0236.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 95.41.
