Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumption and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 6.47% or 2.90 points to trade at 47.71 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3) added 6.00% or 1.07 points to end at 18.89 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was up 4.36% or 0.77 points to 18.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3), which lost 2.08% or 0.29 points to trade at 13.63 in late trade. BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) declined 1.60% or 0.60 points to end at 36.84 and TAESA UNT N2 (SA:TAEE11) shed 1.51% or 0.32 points to 20.81.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 207 to 174 and 43 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.68% to 34.47.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.14% or 1.80 to $1266.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.97% or 1.71 to hit $55.91 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.98% or 1.25 to trade at $126.03 .
USD/BRL was down 0.19% to 3.2353, while EUR/BRL fell 0.47% to 3.8156.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 93.53.
