Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumption and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3), which rose 6.00% or 0.68 points to trade at 12.01 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 5.30% or 1.49 points to end at 29.60 and CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) was up 3.14% or 0.57 points to 18.73 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which lost 3.35% or 0.26 points to trade at 7.51 in late trade. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) declined 3.32% or 0.19 points to end at 5.54 and Equatorial Energia SA (SA:EQTL3) shed 1.80% or 1.18 points to 64.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 239 to 177 and 48 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.55% to 26.18.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.52% or 6.50 to $1264.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.19% or 0.11 to hit $57.22 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 1.04% or 1.25 to trade at $121.92 .
USD/BRL was down 0.11% to 3.2914, while EUR/BRL rose 0.15% to 3.8784.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 93.25.
