Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Industrials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which rose 12.28% or 2.21 points to trade at 20.21 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 8.34% or 1.13 points to end at 14.68 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) was up 7.14% or 0.87 points to 13.06 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11), which lost 3.92% or 0.73 points to trade at 17.88 in late trade. CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) declined 3.66% or 0.37 points to end at 9.75 and WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) shed 3.63% or 0.59 points to 15.66.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 204 to 204 and 39 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.67% to 35.01.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.93% or 11.70 to $1242.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.24% or 0.18 to hit $73.97 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 2.83% or 3.25 to trade at $111.72 .
USD/BRL was up 0.80% to 3.9082, while EUR/BRL rose 0.40% to 4.5495.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 94.62.
