Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Auto, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Darfon (TW:8163), which rose 9.97% or 1.75 points to trade at 19.30 at the close. Neo Solar Powe (TW:3576) added 9.96% or 2.30 points to end at 25.40 and Everlight Chem (TW:1711) was up 9.95% or 2.10 points to 23.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Twinhead Intl (TW:2364), which lost 5.63% or 0.18 points to trade at 3.02 in late trade. Aoc (TW:6289) declined 5.17% or 0.06 points to end at 1.10 and Candmark (TW:5259) shed 4.06% or 0.31 points to 7.33.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 668 to 172 and 5 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.88% or 0.36 to $42.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.75% or 0.34 to hit $44.88 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.56% or 6.00 to trade at $1071.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.50% to 32.663, while TWD/CNY rose 0.26% to 0.1960.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 100.08.
