Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.60% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Elia (BR:ELI), which rose 0.82% or 0.360 points to trade at 44.475 at the close. Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) added 0.80% or 0.74 points to end at 93.06 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 0.59% or 0.17 points to 29.16 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB), which lost 5.15% or 6.40 points to trade at 117.80 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:ING) declined 3.15% or 0.330 points to end at 10.130 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 3.00% or 0.41 points to 13.08.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 103 to 43 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.82% or 10.00 to $1229.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $35.70 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $37.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.1387, while EUR/GBP rose 0.88% to 0.8052.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 94.63.
