Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BRU:KBC), which rose 0.44% or 0.280 points to trade at 63.770 at the close. Elia (BRU:ELI) added 0.39% or 0.145 points to end at 37.755 and Ageas (BRU:AGES) was up 0.19% or 0.075 points to 39.060 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which lost 20.08% or 3.31 points to trade at 13.19 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB) declined 2.63% or 0.78 points to end at 28.85 and Umicore NV (BRU:UMI) shed 2.48% or 0.96 points to 37.99.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 105 to 62 and 4 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.27% or 3.00 to $1107.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.91% or 1.76 to hit $43.20 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.95% or 1.50 to trade at $49.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.19% to 1.1040, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.7092.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 97.28.
