Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Utilities and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.12% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 1.29% or 0.56 points to trade at 44.13 at the close. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) added 0.80% or 0.36 points to end at 45.32 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 0.32% or 0.210 points to 65.760 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 3.06% or 0.98 points to trade at 31.24 in late trade. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) declined 2.67% or 2.68 points to end at 97.57 and UCB (BR:UCB) shed 2.29% or 1.41 points to 60.08.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 88 to 33 and 6 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.40% or 4.97 to $1244.13 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.65% or 0.29 to hit $45.03 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.46% or 0.22 to trade at $47.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1420, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8796.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 95.47.
