Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Food Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Elia (BRU:ELI), which rose 0.52% or 0.210 points to trade at 40.650 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB) fell 0.04% or 0.01 points to end at 25.43 and Engie SA (PARIS:ENGIE) was down 0.07% or 0.01 points to 15.27 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which lost 3.62% or 0.33 points to trade at 8.74 in late trade. bpost NV (BRU:BPOST) declined 1.94% or 0.42 points to end at 21.27 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BRU:COLR) shed 1.81% or 0.77 points to 41.73.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 104 to 49 and 6 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.59% or 6.60 to $1102.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.46% or 1.13 to hit $44.79 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.77% or 0.86 to trade at $48.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.50% to 1.1336, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.7348.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 95.23.
