Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 1.27% or 0.60 points to trade at 47.97 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 1.09% or 0.44 points to end at 40.62 and Elia (BR:ELI) was up 0.59% or 0.270 points to 45.740 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which lost 4.79% or 2.81 points to trade at 55.91 in late trade. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 2.32% or 1.240 points to end at 52.240 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) shed 0.63% or 0.32 points to 49.97.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 89 to 65 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.18% or 2.25 to $1265.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $50.63 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.21 to trade at $51.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.0865, while EUR/GBP fell 0.26% to 0.8896.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 98.77.
