Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Construction & Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Bekaert (D) (BRU:BEKB), which rose 2.04% or 0.52 points to trade at 26.02 at the close. Umicore (D) (BRU:UMI) added 1.91% or 0.80 points to end at 42.64 and Elia (BRU:ELI) was up 0.81% or 0.330 points to 40.945 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ageas (BRU:AGES), which lost 1.07% or 0.375 points to trade at 34.530 in late trade. UCB (BRU:UCB) declined 0.98% or 0.71 points to end at 71.53 and Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BRU:ABI) shed 0.84% or 1.00 points to 117.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 92 to 80 and 5 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.59% or 7.10 to $1192.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 3.12% or 1.62 to hit $53.53 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.91% or 1.13 to trade at $60.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.91% to 1.0663, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.7217.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.81% at 98.93.
