Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI), which rose 2.44% or 2.60 points to trade at 109.05 at the close. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) added 1.61% or 1.75 points to end at 110.40 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 1.14% or 0.32 points to 28.32 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 3.04% or 0.42 points to trade at 13.39 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 2.82% or 1.165 points to end at 40.150 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 1.43% or 0.665 points to 45.875.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 80 to 46 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.25% or 3.15 to $1277.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.33% or 1.02 to hit $44.80 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.77% or 0.79 to trade at $45.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.73% to 1.1402, while EUR/GBP fell 0.67% to 0.7871.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.54% at 93.77.
